First of all, I’d like to say “Happy New Year!” to any of you guys that are actually reading this. Second, even though I’ve been posting about Christmas movies over the last few weeks, I still haven’t officially “opened” this blog to public i.e. promoted it, worked on the FB page for it, etc. Today, on New Years Day, the first holiday of the year, I will be announcing the launch of Movidays via social media! Yay! So, please if you’re reading this bookmark my blog, pass it around to your friends, tweet about it, whatever you can do to spread the word about the holiday movies that we all love.
If you’re new to Movidays lemme just start off by introducing myself. I’m you’re author and admin, Renee P. I run this website and the Movidays blog in my spare time because I absolutely love movies and especially movies about holidays! So why not write about them all of the time, right? That’s why I’m here! Eventually, I would love to have other writers join me in this project but for now it’s just me, myself & I.
Movidays is going to work like this…
I’m going to write review posts about holiday movies that I watch
You guys feel free to comment or leave feedback anytime
I’ll probably post about holiday facts or movie facts from time to time
And maybe I’ll add in TV miniseries/movie entries as well.
I rate all of the movies that I watch based upon an A-F grading scale
I credit all of my resources and provide you guys with the links for your own use
… I would like to get this thing in working order. Actually, I would like to complete that task before Sunday, but we shall see. I’m missing PRIME Christmas movie blogging time! EEEK!
Yes, that’s basically what this is all about. Me blogging about my favorite holiday movies as well as reviewing day-specific flicks I’ve never seen before. At the beginning of every month I’ll post a new calendar of the holidays I will be “celebrating” here on Movidays. Then, I’ll be posting whatever I happen to come across in my own personal collection, on Netflix, or of course on TV. During those months with few holidays, my back-up blog posts will be centered around seasonal films and of course, nostalgia. I would also LOVE for you guys to participate on the conversation as well! Feel free to contact me ANYTIME with comments and/or feedback here: movidays AT acinematicsunrise DOT com.
Finally, this site is set up so you can choose a particular article/review based upon season, holiday, or a specific topic (time, months, genre, etc.) Eventually I will be blogging once maybe even two or three times a day so there will be plenty of content for you to search through! I’m still so thrilled about this project & hope that you guys are too! For now I leave you with a December 2011 calendar featured above & some social networking links:
Hello & welcome to Movidays! My name is Renee P. and I will be your lovely tour guide down memory lane!
Movidays is a creation that I am proud to finally share with the world. This blog is dedicated to two of my absolute favorite things in the world; movies and holidays! There’s just something about watching “A Christmas Story” for 24 hours straight on Christmas Eve or renting “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” to watch after devouring a Thanksgiving feast. These are only a few examples of truly nostalgic movies that can be directly related to some of our favorite holidays.
Movies, to me, only add to the enjoyment of the holidays- watching dysfunctional families trying to get along for Christmas or romantic comedies about the stress of being single on Valentine’s Day- the two practically go hand in hand! That’s what I want to try to capture, my feelings about certain holiday-themed movies throughout the year. Yes, all calendar year long! I’m not going to write about the most popular holidays (Christmas, Halloween, etc.) but also about holidays that you wouldn’t think would have movies made about them (such as Easter or Kwanza). I’m thoroughly dedicated to making this your go-to place for movies that can help put you in a particular holiday mood.
I’ll write another post soon about exactly what you’ll be seeing from this blog in the future. For now, I just wanted to say hi and announce how excited I am about this project! Any comments, suggestions or feedback (positive/negative) is very much appreciated!
